“IDOLUM” IN MODERN EDUCATION. UNSUPERVISED WORK THROUGH THE CONTEXT OF F. BACON’S THEORY OF IDOLS

Abstract

The article considers the role of students’ unsupervised work within the educational process at a university. A thesis is proposed that in modern pedagogy the students’ unsupervised work is given too much attention, due to this fact the traditional classroom work suffers. The variety of approaches to improving the quality of unsupervised work, as well as numerous attempts to optimize it and make it more effective face an almost insuperable obstacle: the lack of motivation for learning. To solve the problem of motivation with purely technological means is impossible.
