OPENING THE CURTAIN: DIVERSITY OF JOINT PROGRAMMES AND THE DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVES FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION BETWEEN UNIVERSITIES

Abstract

Joint programmes are being actively developed all over the world and become a popular instrument of interuniversity cooperation. The paper relies on the results of the study, conducted upon the request of the European Union Delegation to Russia and dedicated to identifying joint programmes between European and Russian universities and mapping their activities. The first part reviews the variety of definitions of a joint programme and offers the one, used in the study. The second part conveys a working typology developed in the course of the study and describing the diversity of arrangements within the joint programmes between Russian and European universities. The concluding part emphasises the need to adjust the programme arrangements to the strategies of both partners.
