THE AXIOLOGY OF ANCIENT RUS: THE TEACHING OF NIL SORSKY

Abstract

This article presents the analysis of Rule which
was written by Nil Sorsky in XV century. Sorsky formulates
a guide for spiritual self-perfection: nonattachment, stillness
with prayer, and combating the pernicious thoughts. The
author of article shows the system of moral education and
underlines the fact that Nil Sorskys teachings differed from
the authoritarian nature of the Russian Orthodoxy and its obsession
with outward rituals.
