THE FORMATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL COMPETENCE BY MEANS OF FOLKLORE SONGS

Abstract

The article presents the methods of forming pupils
environmental competence at music lessons in the fifth
and sixth forms of a comprehensive school. The degree of
schoolchildrens environmental competence was measured by
a four-leveled scale including high, close to high, medium
and low grades. The results of the experiment conducted
with eleven and twelve year old children showed that folklore
songs at music lessons help to broaden pupils understanding
of the world of nature and human role in it, influence moral
and esthetic spheres of pupils consciousness and stimulate
the formation of their environmental competence.
