The prerequisites for the birth of the Journal were the research activities of the Department of Pedagogics of the Moscow Region Pedagogical Institute named after N.K. Krupskaya.
In the period of 1947-1971s, the publication of the Institute issued "Scientific notes. Proceedings of the Department of Pedagogics". In the period of 1947-1971s the editors-in-chief were: I.T. Ogorodnikov, P.N. Shimbirev, A.S. Lynda, N.P. Shcherbov, N.M. Navaychik, A.K. Petrov, I.M. Skulkin, N.V. Zikeev, M.A. Khovanskaya, A.N. Alekseev. The subject of scientific works: experience of combining education with socially useful and productive work; the activities of the pioneer organization named after V.I. Lenin; issues of education and upbringing; pedagogical views of N.K. Krupskaya; education of students in the spirit of communist humanism; training of a teacher-educator at the pedagogical institute; organization and methods of instilling in students independence and creative activity in the process of academic and extracurricular work; issues of pedagogics of higher and secondary schools.
In 1972, the Journal "Scientific notes. The works of the Department of Pedagogics” was transformed into "A collection of scientific papers. Pedagogics" and was published until 1978. In the period 1972-1978 the editors-in-chief were: N.P. Shcherbov, A.G. Mikhailova, K.K. Gilev, G.V. Sytin, N.M. Navaychik, Ya.E. Malkov, A.N. Alekseev, G.I. Karakashev, E.S. Grigorieva, P.A. Zhiltsov. The subject of the collections of academic researches: education of students in the spirit of communist humanism; education of a communist personality at a Soviet school; Pioneer organization named after V.I. Lenin; didactic foundations for the development of students' independence in the process of education and upbringing; interaction of pedagogical university and rural school; issues of moral and labor education; training and development of younger students; improving the effectiveness of educational work with students at a rural school.
In the period of 1979-1998s "Collection of scientific papers. Pedagogics" became known as the "Intercollegiate Collection of Scientific Papers", its editors-in-chief were: V.V. Rozin, M.G. Khitaryan, N.V. Terekhov, A.A. Aronov, S.N. Chistyakova, Ya.A. Vagramenko, V.I. Zhuravlev, M.V. Ruban, V.K. Rozov, P.V. Kononikhin, E.D. Novozhilov. Its topics included the following: military-patriotic education of students of pedagogical institutes; issues of labor education and polytechnic education in the history of Soviet school pedagogics; issues of economic efficiency of public education; the pedagogical heritage of N.K. Krupskaya and the modern school; improving the preparation of future teachers for classroom management; pedagogical informatics; theoretical and applied foundations of the management of the restructuring of higher pedagogical education; vocational training at the higher pedagogical school; universal spiritual and moral values and education of the youth; vocational training at pedagogical university.
In 1998, the first issue of the journal "Bulletin of the Moscow Pedagogical University" was published, but there has not yet been a separate series or topic on the Department of Pedagogics.
In the period of 1999-2004s, the "Intercollegiate Collection of Scientific Papers" was transformed into a "Collection of scientific papers", the editor-in-chief of which was V.P. Simonov, and the topics of the 5-year editions were devoted to the issues of training, certification and advanced training of pedagogical and managerial personnel.
In 2005, the series "Pedagogics and Psychology" was published in the journal "Bulletin of the Moscow Region State University", and from 2005 to 2006 (No. 1) there appeared an opportunity for publications in the academic journal "Bulletin of Moscow Region State University. Series: Pedagogics and Psychology". The subject of the journal was determined by the series of the journal "Pedagogics and Psychology".
In 2006, the journal was renamed "Bulletin of the Moscow State Regional University. Series "Pedagogy". In the period 2005-2017, the editor-in-chief of the series was L.P. Krivshenko, from 2018 to 2020 the editor-in-chief was E.I. Artamonova, from 2021 to 2023 - V.E. Tsibulnikova The traditions of the journal’s topics are preserved: current issues of general pedagogy, history of pedagogy and education, open education, theories and methods of teaching and education, theories. and methods of vocational education.
The traditions of the journal's subjects laid down by L.P. Krivshenko are preserved: topical issues of general pedagogics, the history of pedagogics and education, open education, theory and methodology of teaching and upbringing, theory and methodology of vocational education.
Over the years of the journal's existence, the principles of publication ethics developed on the basis of international standards have been formed and strictly observed, requirements for the content and design of manuscripts of future articles are clearly stated and imposed. Since 2021, the traditional theme of the issue, which was first suggested by the editors–in-chief who stood at the origins of the Journal, has been revived. Thus, the Journal lives and develops, preserving the values and traditions laid down in the last century.
Since 2023, the Journal has been called "Moscow Pedagogical Journal".
