Abstract

Purpose. The purpose is to study the ten years dynamics of the practical use of the Open Resources on the example of the Open Courses in architecture and art at Moscow Institute of Architecture, as well as to compare the transformation of theoretical ideas with the world practice of use. Methodology and Approach. The paper presents the results of the comparative analysis of theoretically ideas justifying the value and limitedness of Open education Systems with fifteen years of practice using them at the US, Netherlands and Russian Universities. The research material is the scientific publications of Russian and foreign scientists, Internet statistics data, empirical experience of the Creation and use of the Open Courses in Architecture. Results. The study allows us to draw conclusions about the potential in using Open Education to popularize the innovative achievements of architectural science and new areas of architectural activity, expanding the audience of additional architectural and art education, organizing the activities of structures of supplementary architectural education for children and adults. The limiting factor in the expansion of the Open Education System in the field of architecture is the high initial cost, indirect evidence of the educational and economic efficiency, low legal culture of the users in the field of authors’ rights. Theoretical and Practical Implications.
