В статье рассматриваются цели системы высшего образования США, роль высшего образования в повышении социальной мобильности специалиста и причины ее сниже- ния, пути создания равных условий для получения высшего образования представителя- ми различных слоев американского общества.

The article is devoted to the system of higher education in the USA, the role of higher education in social mobility and the reasons of its decreasing; the ways to create equal opportunities for the young people irrespective of their social position and income by the support of low-income families, grants and subsidies, the increase of the quality of education in poor and national minorities schools.
