Статья знакомит читателя с исследованием, проведенным в виде анкетирования в 2004 году среди американской молодежи. Полученные данные позволили уточнить уровень сформированности гражданских и патриотических качеств у молодежи США, проследить факторы, определяющие формирование гражданского облика молодых американцев, выявить некоторые особенности американской трактовки содержания и корреляции таких понятий как «патриотизм» и «гражданственность».

The article describes the results of a research carried out in 2004 in the form of a questionnaire among american young people. the results let us determine the amount of civic a nd patriotic qualities obtained by young americans, trace the factors which influenceon the formation of the civic image of the Usa’s young people, and also reveal some peculiarities of the american interpretation of patriotism and civicmindedness.
